Many of you know we offer full body waxing treatments, including intimate areas! I wondered… Do you avoid waxing treatments out of fear of pain or embarrassment?

We’ve had lots of enquiries about waxing and many clients expressing their anxieties around waxing treatments. So I wanted to reach out and answer a few FAQ’s for you to help:

Is waxing painful?

Naturally, this differs from person to person. One person may have several nerve endings in one area, while another may not. If you have a sensitive skin, remember that any pain is very minor and very temporary. I can assure you, it’s really not as bad as you think. TIP, the pain lessens the more you return forwaxing, as the hair becomes finer.

How can I prevent being embarrassed during an intimate wax?

It’s understandable that there will be a little embarrassment, especially if it’s your first time. We understand you may feel slightly uncomfortable being so exposed. But please don’t worry, our therapists have seen it all and, like a doctor or nurse, it’s their job. As part of the treatment, you are offered a pair of disposable panties, which you can choose to wear or not. Just know that it’s of the norm and our therapists won’t even bat an eyelid. Plus we’ll be so busy chatting you won’t feel any embarrasment!

Can I get an intimate wax whilst on my period?

We usually suggest not getting a wax when it’s your time of the month, just because the skin is more sensitive around that time. So we advise against getting a wax 5 days before and during your period.

Is waxing better than shaving?

The age-old question: Waxing vs. Shaving. Consider waxing because it actually lasts much longer than shaving. It pulls the hairs from the root–no stubble and your skin is so smooth! It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments. Shaving will stimulate the hair growth again. With waxing, you will not have cuts and nicks that often come with shaving.

Is it true waxing will reduce my hair growth?

With regular waxing, your new hair will become finer and grow slower!

How should I prepare for a waxing appointment?

You need to have at least a 1/4 inch of hair growth, 1/2 inch for course hair. That is about a week to 2 weeks of hair growth after shaving. Exfoliating with exfoliating gloves the day before waxing is suggested for less pain at the appointment. If it’s your first time, please let us know and we will walk you through every step at the appointment.

How long does waxing take?

This depends on what you are you are having waxed, and how much hair is present. An appointment can take from about 10-20 minutes (eyebrows) to an hour or more (several areas).

How often should I get waxed?

Regular waxing is essential. For many, that is every 4-6 weeks. The skin will be less sensitive, and the hair becomes finer if waxing is done every four weeks.
